Dodge sets an example
update August 16, 2010
Please read this amazing statement from Dodge which includes their reasons for altering the commercial as well as their pledge to never use great apes in their advertising again: http://www.dodge.com/en/invisible_monkey/
The altered commercial with the "invisible monkey" is a bit tongue-and-cheek, but there is no denying that Dodge heard our concerns about the use of great apes in entertainment and responded. Their pledge: "Dodge is firmly committed to never using great apes in our advertisements again" says it all.
Take a moment to thank Dodge for being a forward-thinking company on their Facebook page.

We have some exciting news to share with you!
Many of you have seen the Dodge “Big Tent Event” television commercial that featured a young chimpanzee “actor.” Primate Patrol contacted Ralph Gilles, CEO of Dodge. We are pleased to announce that he was very gracious and agreed to pull the chimpanzee footage from the commercial, as well as remove a print ad from rotation.
This development would not have been accomplished without a growing public awareness of the inherent cruelty involved in using great apes for entertainment purposes. We want to thank you for your involvement in this movement – your efforts are essential in creating a voice for abused and exploited great apes.
We would like to thank Dodge for their new and progressive stance on the use of apes in advertising.
Please send a big thank you to Dodge by going to the Dodge’s Facebook page, liking the page and leaving them a thank you on their wall.
